Mission StatementTo create, enhance and conserve an accessible network of nature areas and public pathways that link and support both human and wildlife communities along Bishop Grandin Blvd. Bishop Grandin Greenway Inc.Bishop Grandin Greenway Inc. (BGGI) is a not for profit registered charity formed to address the community need for improved history, health and wellness. In 2000, volunteers spearheaded the development of the Greenway in response to concerns of local seniors who had expressed concern over the decline of green space in St. Vital. With the help of partnering organizations (see partners), Bishop Grandin Greenway and it's volunteers have engaged the community to restore greenspace; increase awareness, appreciation, and knowledge of the area's natural and historical value; and develop an active living venue for people to enjoy. ![]() Bishop Grandin Greenway Inc.’s current mandate is to establish a Greenway between the Red and Seine Rivers. The development will be consistent with the Greeway's four Core Values: Biodiversity, Wellness, Community, and Stewardship. For more detail, see our goals and objectives. Bishop Grandin Greenway TrailThe multi-use trail running along side Bishop Grandin Blvd. was developed by the Winnipeg Trails Association in partnership with BGGI. The trail is maintained by the City of Winnipeg, and has since been expanded beyond the area of the Greenway, east towards the Sage Creek development, and west towards the Waverly West neighbourhood. It will eventually join up with trails along McGillivray Blvd. and Sterling Lyon Pkwy. to form part of a city-wide active transportation network. For more detail see our Maps page, or visit Winnipeg Trails. |
